Leibniz Institute for High Performance Microelectronics

The IHP conducts cutting-edge research and development on silicon-based systems, high-frequency circuits and technologies for wireless and broadband communication. As the transition between basic research and application-oriented applications, the IHP covers the entire value chain from materials research and technology with production in our own clean rooms to complete system design. Through its participation in numerous projects in the 5G area, the IHP has proven expertise in the areas of localization and radar, resilience, hardware error detection and security, which will also play a major role in 6G. Other focal points and contributions of the IHP are in the areas of mmWave and (Sub-)THz communication as well as beamforming and MIMO transmission.

The IHP is involved in the Open6GHub with four of its five departments and thus contributes to the development of a future 6G ecosystem with the entire range of its competencies.
