In January 2022, the Open6GHub appeared in the ITG News of the “Informationstechnische Gesellschaft im VDE” as part of the presentation of the BMBF's 6G program with a profile on the guiding vision.

On June 29, 2021, it was officially announced that the BMBF, under the leadership of Federal Research Minister Anja Karliczek, will fund 4 6G research hubs, including the Open6GHub, with up to 250 million euros.
